Mo Manley
chicago
Matt “Mo” Manley has been playing funk and soul records since 1988. His love for records has led him from playing music to writing about and visualizing it as well — including writing for Wax Poetics magazine and designing for Detroit’s Funk Night records.
Mo has had residencies with Ace Hotels (London, Palm Springs, NYC, Chicago) and regularly plays many of your favorite funk and soul-oriented parties, including With It! (Toronto), Funk Night (Detroit), Soulelujah! (Boston), Mobile Mondays! (NYC), Soul in the Horn (NYC), Funky Sole (LA), Bump & Hustle (St Louis), Naptown Soul Club (Indianapolis), South London Soul Train (London) and Funky Good Time (Nashville). His home court, though, is at Chicago’s long-running monthly Soul Summit party where Mo is both one of the DJs as well as the party’s photographer. He’s also been featured on KRTS FM, the NPR affiliate for Marfa, TX, and has been featured on the Sound Traveler mixtape series on Philadelphia’s Record Breakin’ label.
